Book Orders

Through the book orders program, New Haven Reads provides thousands of free books for local events, organizations, and schools, ranging from the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen and Fair Haven Community Health Center to KinderCare and the city’s senior centers. The premise is simple: you request the books, and our volunteers will prep them for pick up. When they’re ready, you’ll receive an email!

FAQ

Is there a limit to the number of books I may request?

All book orders are capped at 300 books total.* We love giving out thousands of free books each year, and this cap allows us to fill more book orders, for more organizations, in a more timely fashion. Please request  only what you need, up to the limits below.
  • Minimum 25 books per order. Maximum 300 books per order
  • Fiction picture books limited to 100 per order
  • Board Books will be added at the discretion of the Book Bank Director

*Larger orders (more than 300 books) may be requested and filled at the discretion of the Book Bank Director, and must be approved ahead of time. To inquire about a larger order, please email books@test.newhavenreads.org.
