Volunteer Application

To volunteer with New Haven Reads or the New Haven Tutoring Initiative, please fill out and submit the volunteer application below. After you submit the form, be sure to sign up for a tutor orientation using the link on the submission confirmation page OR email books@newhavenreads.org if you are interested in becoming a Book Bank/Field Trip volunteer. You must be at least 15 years old to be a volunteer at New Haven Reads.

Interest

To provide the best support and consistency for our students and programming, please note we ask all volunteers to consider staying the full school year. Please keep this in mind as you plan your availability.

The minimum requirement is a one hour commitment per week on the same day/time weekly.

Please read instructions carefully below.

Please provide contact information for two references (required). All references must be 18 years or older and cannot be a family member of the applicant. For high school students, at least one reference must be a teacher, guidance counselor, or coach. For adults, at least one reference must be from a professional or volunteer setting, or an academic instructor (if applicant is a current or recent student).

For both references, please be sure to include: Name, Relationship, Email Address, and, if possible, Phone Number.
