Lisa Kimberly

Lisa earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Fairfield University and her Master of Science in remedial reading from Southern Connecticut State University—an experience that set her on a path of life-long service to young people. Lisa started her teaching career in middle school language arts at Highville Charter school. Fifteen years and three schools later, New Haven Reads feels like coming home!
Outside of the classroom, Lisa built a legacy of strong relationships with young people through the world of fiber crafts and her experiences coaching martial arts. Lisa is thrilled to bring her passion for literacy and her love of inspiring students to New Haven Reads. It is typical for Lisa to read at least 100 books each year, and she always loves to talk about stories with students—especially thrillers and dystopian series. Feel free to ask her about what she is reading right now!
