Margi manages and coordinates education policy work in crisis-affected contexts for the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE). The INEE is an open, global network of members working together within a humanitarian and development framework to ensure that all individuals have the right to a quality, safe, relevant, and equitable education. She provides technical assistance and facilitates collaboration between Education Policy Working Group members, who comprise of programs, policy, and academic experts across UN agencies, NGOs, governments, and learning institutions.
Margi received her Master’s in International Education Development with a focus on Peace and Human Rights Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. She has been in the education sector for 11 years: six in the classroom as a teacher in the early childhood, primary, and secondary levels in France, South Korea, and the US; and the last five focusing on education in emergencies work, predominantly in South Asia and the Middle East working with NGOs. Most recently, Margi has provided specialized technical assistance to UNICEF’s Education in Emergencies hub at the headquarters in New York. Margi is based in the International Rescue Committee’s offices in New York City.
