Dr. Laura Raynolds from Southern Connecticut State University
Topic: “Learning to read english-as an ESL student”
About the speaker:
Laura Raynolds is a Professor at Southern Connecticut State University and Program Coordinator of the Graduate Reading Department. She has a Ph.D. in Language and Literacy from Fordham University, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Haskins Laboratories. She spent many years teaching young English learners in the public schools and is certified in Reading, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Bilingual Literacy and Spanish. Her research interests lie in the intersection of language and literacy as it applies to students who are learning English as well as to students with dyslexia. She has presented her research at international conferences and has various publications in peer reviewed journals. She is married (to a teacher) and has two children, both of whom are teachers.
