No experience is necessary and we will teach you everything you need to know!

Every day at New Haven Reads, our volunteer tutors are spending one hour a week making a tremendous difference in the lives of students in the Greater New Haven area. Join us and help a student become successful reader! Read on below for the process to become a tutor, watch a video of our tutoring hour or apply now!

How it Works

Take a look at our step by step process to become a tutor. The requirements to become a NHR tutor are: be at least 15 years old (or a sophomore in high school), have a successful interview, pass the background check if you are 18 or older,  and commit to at least one hour per week.
