Book Orders

The Book Bank provides books to dozens of area organizations and schools to stock their classrooms, waiting rooms, and special events. If you would like to request a book order for your organization or event, please fill out this form at least several weeks before the requested pickup date.

FAQ

Is there a limit to the number of  books I may request?
All book orders, including those for teachers, schools, and other organizations that serve children, are capped at 200 books total. We LOVE giving out thousands of free books each year, but we are instituting this cap in response to a growing demand for book orders. This cap allows us to fill more book orders, for more organizations, in a more timely fashion. Our new book order guidelines are below:

  • Maximum 200 books per order
  • Fiction picture books limited to 100 per order
  • No board books

Note: Larger orders (more than 200 books) may be requested in either (1) exceptional circumstances or (2) if the requesting organization is willing and able to help pack up the books. These orders will only be filled at the discretion of the Book Bank Manager, and must be approved ahead of time. To inquire about a larger order, please email books@newhavenreads.org.

What types of  books do you have available?
You can see the full list of categories available from the Book Bank here.

Can the Book Bank level books for my classroom library, or find specific books I need?
No. If you need leveled books for a classroom library, or are looking for a specific book, you may visit us at 45 Bristol Street anytime we are open to hand-select books.

Can the Book Bank deliver my book order?
Unfortunately, the Book Bank is not able to deliver book orders. All books must be picked up from 45 Bristol Street within a week of availability.
